Windows 10: How can I get rid of the two "up" and "down" grey arrows that recently appeared in my taskbar?

Two "up" and "down" grey arrows appeared recently in my taskbar - this has never happened before.They are the arrows that would appear if I had more items open than would fit in the taskbar, but this isn't the case - if I used the arrows to scroll up or down, the rest of the taskbar is empty. If I unlock the taskbar and resize it, making it larger thicker, say so it could fit 2 rows of windows open, the two grey arrows are still there. It feels like some sort of bug, perhaps connected to a recent update?p.s.: for some reason I cannot upload a screenshot of this

Taskbar shows up and down arrow

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand you are getting up and down arrow in the Taskbar. There might be multiple applications pinned to the Taskbar that is the reason you are getting the up and down arrow.

If the applications are "Pinned" to the Taskbar, you can right click on those icons and select "Unpin from Taskbar". This will remove the icons from the Taskbar when they are closed. Refer screenshot below:





You can open these applications from Start Menu when you need it.

However, if you need all the shortcuts pinned to taskbar, you can follow the steps mentioned below:

Method 1: Unlock the Taskbar

We can unlock the Taskbar and increase the size of the Taskbar. Follow the steps mentioned below and check if this helps:

1. Right click on the Taskbar and uncheck the option
   Lock the taskbar.
   
2. Now, place the mouse pointer at the edge of the
   Taskbar and drag the mouse up.
   

Method 2: Small taskbar buttons

Alternatively, you can use small icons on the Taskbar so that the icons are properly accommodated in the Taskbar. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Right click on Taskbar and select
   Taskbar settings.
   
2. Toggle the switch towards right for Use small taskbar buttons.

System Icons/Overflow arrow missing from taskbar

Greetings! I need help! I am running windows 10 pro with updates

Recently i had to force a restart, now the little overflow arrow on the right side of the taskbar is gone and i am not able to access networking, volume, or any recently opened programs like my VPN. I have tried several fixes listed online, such as turning
them on and off in the various settings menus. I have tried exiting explorer and restarting it as well as the pc itself several times.

Basically everything listed here short of the system restore..Fix System icons missing from Windows Taskbar

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much for your time! Tony

 

File Explorer in Win 10 taskbar not showing Recent folders

When I right-click Word or Excel in my Windows 10 taskbar, a list of recent folders appears. But when I right-click File Explorer, only Pinned and Frequent folders appear. Neither of these is as useful to me as the Recent folders. Any suggestions on how
I can get Recent folders to appear?
