    I'm trying to get to the fast start setting for my Windows 11 computer. I'm supposed to get to it in Control Panel by going to Power Options -> System Settings -> Define Power Buttons -> and clicking on a link that says, "Change settings that are currently unavailable." But when I click on the link, it just disappears, with everything else on the page remaining the same. No popup either, like you get when you click on the "Change advanced power settings" for your current power plan. Is this a known issue? Are there registry or Powershell workarounds that will allow me to adjust w

    Can't Change Power Settings

    Thank you for the quick response. We will now move to the second phase of troubleshooting. We suggest that you follow the steps provided below:

    Method 1: Run the Power Troubleshooter.

    Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with your system's power settings. Here's how:

    • In the search box, type troubleshooting, and then click
      Troubleshooting
      .
    • Click on the view all option on the left panel.
    • Run the Power troubleshooter.

    Method 2: Customize Power options.

    If issue persists, the the following steps and check.

    • In the search box, type Power options, and then click.
    • Click on choose when to turn off display from the left pane.
    • Click on Restore default settings for this plan.
    • Click on Change advance power settings.
    • Scroll down and expand Power buttons and lid.
    • Expand Power button actions.
    • Click on the Setting and set it to Shut down.

    If possible, we'd like to know the results of the clean boot. Since you have the most updated driver, we suggest that you follow these methods and see if there will be any changes on the Power Options:

    Method 1: Enable Fast Startup

    • Right click on the Start button and select Power Options from the list.
    • Click on the Choose what the power buttons does on the left navigation pane.
    • Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable (Enter the admin credentials if prompted).
    • Beside When I press power button option select Shutdown
      from the down drop list. Put a checkmark on Turn on Fast startup (Recommended) box.
    • Click on Save changes.
    • Restart the computer and check.

    Method 2: Customize Power options

    • Right click on the Start button and click on Power Options.
    • Click on Choose when to turn off display from the left pane.
    • Click on Restore default settings for this plan.
    • Click on Change advance power settings.
    • Scroll down and expand Power buttons and lid.
    • Expand Power button actions.
    • Click on the Setting and set it to Shut down.

    Windows 10 Power Settings

    In the meantime, we suggest following the methods below if you've not tried it yet:

    Method 1:

    Enable Fast Startup

    • Open Cortana and search for Control Panel.
    • Click Power Options from the list on Control Panel window. (If the Power option is not on the list, make sure that the items are viewed by Large or small icons. This is located at the upper right corner of the window.) 
    • Click on the Choose what the power buttons do under the Control Panel Home on the left navigation pane.
    • Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable (Enter the admin credentials if prompted).
    • Beside the option When I press power button:, select
      Shutdown from the down drop list.
    • Put a check mark on the Turn on fast startup (Recommended) box.
    • Click Save changes.
    • Restart the computer and check if issue will be resolve.


    Method 2:


    Customize Power options

    If issue persists, try the following steps and check if it works:
