  1. How Can I Get Win 11 To Properly Deal With My USB Drives?

I own various solid state USB drives - ranging from about 61-512 TB each.Yet, I cannot get Win 11 to properly save to them. For example, recently, I tried creating a backup, on a roughly 61 TB USB drive. Win 11 showed me that everything was properly copying. Yet, roughly 3.5 hours later, I checked the USB drive and discovered that none of the files had actually been copied. The files should have been located in the third-level of subdirectories, on the disc. All of those third-level subdirectories, however, were empty.A sampling of the file structure would look like this: I:/subdirectory1/subdire

  2. How in WIN 11 do I change the drive letter of the CD/ROM drive?

    Thanks, Greg.

So this is what worked, step by step.

    Reboot

Drive is listed as E: in file explorer.

Drive not listed in Disk Management.

Insert DVD, it plays after short pause.

Disk management now shows Audio CD as E:

Right click, change letter to R: (while playing!)

    Reboot.

Drive now shows as BD-RE drive as R: in File Explorer.

    The bottom line is

    - File Explorer does not provide for changing drive letter afics.

    - Disk Management seems to need a disk to be in the drive for it to "see" the drive. I can't recall is this is Win 10 behaviour

I don't recall having any difficulty with this in Win 10 (its possible that the Win 10 default drive allocation was "after" my external drives; or I "just changed it").

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

  3. USB Flash drive not seen on Laptop running Windows 11

    Hi,EliBiek

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that neither Windows 11 laptops nor Android phones recognize USB flash drives. Here are some steps you can take to try to retrieve data from a potentially damaged or corrupted USB flash drive:

1.Check the USB connection: Make sure the USB port you are using is working properly. Try connecting the USB flash drive to a different USB port on our laptop.

2.Using a different computer: Try connecting the USB flash drive to another computer to see if it is recognized. This will help determine if the problem is with the USB drive itself or the laptop.

    3.Check Disk Management (Windows):

    • Press Windows Key + X and select Disk Management.
    • Look for the USB flash drive in the list of drives. If it appears but does not have a drive letter assigned, you may need to assign a drive letter to access it.

If none of these steps help to retrieve data from the USB flash drive and the data on the USB flash drive is critical, it is advisable to stop trying to access it further to prevent any further damage. Recovering data from a physically damaged drive is very complicated and you may consider seeking the help of a professional data recovery service. They have specialized tools and expertise to recover data from damaged storage devices.

  4. How Can I Get Win 11 To Properly Deal With My USB Drives?

Unable to use System restore from a windows 10 image on Windows 7 with error: "windows cannot find a system image-the usb drive is not visible"

    Hi Otley,

Thanks for replying to us with the status of your issue.

As you mentioned, when you connect the USB flash drive in to the system then the System image backup is not present. It might occur if the System image files is not created properly or may be it got corrupted.

As an initial steps I suggest you to check for the memory space in the USB flash driver.

If the Memory is occupied in the USB flash drive the I suggest you to try running check disk on USB flash drive and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps to perform Check Disk.

    • Press Windows + X on your keyboard.

    • Select Command Prompt (Admin).

    • Type the below commands.

      Chkdsk [drive letter]: /f /r

Reply to us with the status of your issue, we will be happy to assist you.
