How can I get Windows 10 to keep the known networks separate for multiple WiFi adapters?

For many years I have had Windows 10 setup so that the integrated WiFi adapter in my laptop is used to connect to various DHCP networks for internet access, while a 2nd USB WiFi dongle is used with a static IP address exclusively to connect to a wireless access point that I use to communicate with various air gapped networks for troubleshooting and maintenance. This has always been quite easy to do. I only join my WAP SSID from WiFi 2, and so it has appeared as the only 'Known Network' under that adapter and is set to auto connect, and all other networks only autoconnect from WiFi 1.At some poi

WiFi appears in Manage Known Networks, not in Show Available Networks

The list of WiFi connections shown when you click the WiFi icon in the taskbar is a list of all the signals that can currently be seen by the WiFi adapter. The list in Manage Known Networks is a list of all those you have previously successfully connected to, whether or not they are currently available.

The only plausible explanation is that for a while that WiFi signal had been turned off.

  3. Multiple network adapters & No wifi

    Hello,

My PC suddenly kicked me off the wifi network. Restarted my router and reset it and nothing happened. Troubleshooted, nothing happened. Found that I have multiple network adapters. Uninstalled them all and reinstalled them. Restarted computer—nothing happened. Can’t install any windows updates or network adapter updates as I don’t have wifi…Have tried the tips and tricks and nothings getting me back on wifi… send help.

  4. How can I get Windows 10 to keep the known networks separate for multiple WiFi adapters?

    WiFi Adapter question

To be honest, I keep losing my wifi connection and Im almost positive its not due to my internet connection or Router or anything like that. VERY often, everyday, all day it keeps happening. The troubleshooter always resolves it by "reset wifi-adapter" (I believe this is the step it takes that resolves the problem) before it happens again anyways. Its driving me nuts ! Most time when it suddenly goes out (the connection) all the networks that should be in "show available networks" or all but the one I was connected to, disappear. I run the troubleshooter and it ends in resetting the wifi adapter. And it works. 10 minutes later, it happens again. Im trying to pin down the problem here. Thank you for your help.
