Windows 10: How can i increase my c drive volume using unallocated volume

my c drive had less free space. How can i add free space to my c drive. I don't have option to extend my C drive volume.

This is Orlando, an Independent Advisor and an expert with Windows 10.

I understand your concern about extending the size of your C drive using the unallocated partition showing on your disk management.

Extending a certain volume requires unallocated volume on the same drive partition which in your case the unallocated volume is a different partition and it can't be combine to extend your C drive.

You can only extend the size of your C drive if the unallocated volume is located on the same drive partition. What you can do is to create a new simple volume using the unallocated drive and have it as a backup drive or if you want to have the unallocated drive as your C drive, you need to reinstall windows using the unallocated drive that you have on your machine.

Increase volume C: size to use currently unallocated space

I find instructions to increase volume size using Disk management (W10) and I find the right-click options to Extend and Shrink the volume - but both these commands are grayed out and inactive. So I repeat the question: how do I extend volume C: into unallocated space on my drive (the problem may be that I have total of 5 volumes and C: is the third one; thus the free space is not next to this volume! What can I do?

Tarade: Please, make it easier on yourself. I finally did. Download a free program. I had the same problem, downloaded the free minitool partition wizard) and was able to extend the C drive to include the unallocated volume. The extra volume was on a drive
D and I needed it on drive C. I first deleted drive D and then the volume that was in it showed as unallocated. I then used the minitool partition wizzard to extend the drive C volume. So simple. I would have never been able to accomplish that with the complicated
microsoft instructions. Sorry, microsoft.
