    Hello,


    Since I have some 20Kb of bad sectors as shown when running "chkdsk /X C:" it would appear that I need to replace the hard drive.


    How can I know the specification of the existing installed internal hard drive without physically opening up the computer casings?


    Is there a command or somewhere in settings that will give me this information?


    I have so far assumed that I would need to buy at least the same size of disk 750Gb though I tend to use up not even half of that, and a SATA not an SSD since the existing I believe is a SATA.

    New computer without internal hard drive

    Just bought a computer without an internal disk hard drive. It has the 256 SSD drive instead. I want to use an external hard drive to install any new programs so as not to take up space on the SSD drive.. How should I set it up the external hard drive
    and install new programs on it. At this time I do not want to use Onedrive and cloud. Thank you now for any advice someone might offer...

    To help you with your concern regarding the internal hard drive, let me suggest you to follow the steps below:

    • Open File Explorer
    • Right-click on the Drive D:
    • Select Properties
    • Click Security tab then select Advanced
    • Select Change after the Owner: line
