Windows 10: How can I make the space between drop down buttons and save buttons smaller?

Hello,I am trying to find a way to make the unused portion of space between file name text dialog box/dropdown button toggle for file extension types, and the save/cancel buttons I have included the area I speak of. I am not averse to a little coding or regedit modification. Its just annoyingly oversized and it makes the whole thing itself larger than it needs to be. I don't know why I would want to hide the folder area, that functionality at least for me isn't very useful. They should have just turned that button into a glute reduction button for the save as filter instead of making it hide f

Add a button to the address bar.

I would like to add the Zoom button to my new Edge address bar. Have found the following how to do it on the web but they don't work like the instructions say.

To customize the buttons that appear next to the address bar, use these steps:

1. Open Microsoft Edge.
2. Click the Settings and more menu button on the top-right corner. (I assume that is the three dots in a row)
3. Select the Show in toolbar sub-menu. (Don't see 'Show in toobar)
4. Click the action button that you want to add or remove from the toolbar.

How to drag taskbar buttons independently of other buttons?

@philc43, the first screenshot in your linked tutorial shows what is meant by grouping/combining.

Look at the "e" button that has the slipping halo. There are two buttons in the lower part of the screenshot, but only one button in the upper part.

That's because the two buttons have been grouped/combined to form a single button.

If you now hover over that single button, two previews are shown - one above the other. So, you can select whichever preview you want to open. The purpose is to save space on the taskbar.

What I want to do is different. If there are two (or more) buttons of the same type, I want to be able to drag them independently. This allows me to match one button to one program, a second button to a second program, and so on. So, I want my icons to be grouped by "task" rather than by "appearance".

Cannot set home button icon Microsoft Edge

but your suggestion did not work.When i turn off home button in Edge and re-open Edge and turn on home button ...the home icon appears but fades away when Edge is re-opened.

I even uninstalled Edge and re-installed Edge following a fellow members suggestion tutorial but this step did not work either.
