  2. No bootable device, operating system not found

Yet you are online here? ; )

Instead of trying that first you could use the troubleshoot option. E.g. get into a Command line prompt and see if you can do a diskpart list volumes. In fact, this reminds me that someone found a
    more elegant method using WMIC...

    wmic diskdrive list brief

    wmic logicaldisk list brief

In fact, though, neither of those seem as complete as what diskpart can show.

Look for original ID location of System Drive icon... And more if it's possible. ;-)

    Hi JClaude B,

We appreciate that you are part of the Community, and you remembered asking for help on us to identify stuffs which will help you modify your Windows system. Let's see if one of the users here can get your promised 10 years praise. Let me be the first blood.

To be honest, I'm a bit confused about the IDs that you're looking for.

Every storage device has a Volume ID which is also the serial numbers themselves. Here is how you can Identify it:

    Via Command Prompt:

    1. Launch Command Prompt.
    2. Enter this command:

      wmic diskdrive get model,name,serialnumber
    3. You will now see the model, exact name and the serial ID of the hard drive. Note that all the hard drives available will be identified.

    Via PowerShell:

    1. Go to PowerShell
    2. Enter this command:

      Get-WMIObject win32_physicalmedia | Format-List Tag,SerialNumber
    3. The name of the drive will be posted, together with the serial ID.

In addition to these, all hardware peripherals has hardware IDs. But I do not think this will be useful for you, but I'll give it anyway:

    1. Go to Device Manager
    2. Unfold the generic name of the device that you would want to check. For Example, the
      Disk drives.
    3. Under the Disk drives, right-click on the hard drive name, click Properties and click on
      Details tab.
    4. Under Details tab, change the Property section, change it to
Hardware Ids. This will now show all the vendor-defined identification string that Windows uses to match a device to an INF file (Setup Information file).

I hope this can help, or at least I made some sense.

    Enjoy, anyway.

How can I manually change the Disk Drive serialnumber found in "wmic diskdrive get...

change of PW Windows 7 - requesting USB/disk drive

In my other computer, Windows 7 - Bitdefender suggested change of PW (none) to one to log in to the computer (laptop).

As I changed it, it came up with an error, so I said to ask upon login.

Now it won't let me access as it says that PW incorrect.

Selecting Reset PW asks for disk drive or USB - and PW wizard states that I need to prepare the diskdrive for such a use.

    How/where can I do this???

Thanks very much for your help!
