Windows 10: How can I mirror my existing HD and transfer everything to my new one. I am running...

I am replacing the mechanical HD in my HP laptop with a SSD. How can I mirror the existing drive and copy it to the new one. I tried the paid version of Laplink but I could not make it work. Obviously an operator issue. I do not have disks for all my programs. I assume I can go to my MS account and download all the MS office apps but I have some older programs that I do not have the disks for. I regularly back-up my data so that is not an issue. I copied the apps a few years ago, it took hours to move all the apps. Any suggestions?

Try this.

I suggest you follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Open Action Centre.
• Click on Connect.
• PC will search and show which devices are available to mirror/cast.
• Click on the device which you would like to mirror/cast.

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect


In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.

1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination
   
   
   
4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
5. Boot up with your new HD.
