  1. How can I open a URL desktop shortcut with a specific browser instead of the default one

Greetings community!I'm curious about something. I use Microsoft Edge as my default browser for official work and Mozilla Firefox for everything else on my Windows 11 PC. I've created a desktop shortcut for a website e.g., www.google.com using Firefox, but it opens in Edge, the default browser, when I double-click it. Is there a&nb

  2. Unable to set default browser

    • Does this issue happens while you try to set other browser as default too or is it specific to specific browser?

    Any browser.

Already did the steps you suggested. It's some kind of bug where it's impossible to set a default browser at all.

I heard elsewhere from one other user
that it seems to be a problem with upgrading to 10 on the SP3. Sounds very specifc.

  3. Default browser doesn't wanna be set

    Hi Arko,

If you are trying to pin a website to your desktop and open it with your desired browser, please follow these steps:

    • Open a browser.
    • Copy the website that you want to create a shortcut for.
    • Close all the open windows, right click on an open space, select New, and then
      Shortcut.
    • Paste the website, click Next, name the shortcut, and select
      Finish.
    • Go to Settings > System >
Default apps > Web browser to set your default browser.
Let us know how it goes.

    Desktop Shortcut Icons

    Hi Mik-Dav,

The desktop shortcut created for a specific website should bear the website's actual logo. With what you've experienced, there could be something wrong with how the shortcut was created.

If you've created the shortcut by selecting Create shortcut, then we suggest that you try the other way, that is by dragging the website icon that appears in the address bar to your desktop. Follow these steps:

    • Using Internet Explorer, access a website.
    • Once the website opens, you will see its icon in the address bar.
    • Click and drag the icon on your desktop.

The website shortcut bearing its actual logo should now be saved on your desktop.

Let us know if you need further help.

    Regards.
