Windows 10: How can I open Maps app from Photos File info

The photo app has a Location of where the picture was taken if it has the GPS info included the picture, It also has a link to Open Map at the bottom left and clicking on Open Map does nothing. I have looked at the settings for both Photo's and Maps app and found no setting's to enable this, I also checked in Settings Default app's and have the map app set as default is there something I'm missing or does this just not work.

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.

Why is "Open map" failing in Photos app in windows 10?

I open file explorer. I navigate to and double click any photo. The Photos app launches and shows the picture. I click on the "..." and then "file info". That shows a section on the left side of the page with a map. Below the map it says "Open map".


When I click on "Open map", nothing happens. I'm pretty sure this used to work.

The Maps app itself can be launched separately so it is installed and working properly.

Does Photos need "Here maps" to work instead of the Windows 10 "Maps"?

I've just checked my own and for comparison this is what appears when selecting open with for a .jpg photo file:




If I select an image file which doesn't have associations set such as a GIMP .xcf file I see an open with... and clicking this gets to the alternative windows apps selection box:








I wonder if this gives you a clue to what your missing app should be?
