How can I organize my folders in Windows Explorer

I am a singer and have the software to record my music. I have everything organized into separate file folders.

For me, what I did was create a folder called DATA and then everything goes inside that folder. That way when I back up all my data all I have to do is backup that one folder.

With the projects I am working on, some of the files I use more than others so, I would like to put the folders in the order I would like them manually vs. the order they go in alpha or numerically.

So far, I have had to put some funny characters at the beginning of the folder name to position them in the order I would like but, I would prefer not to do that because don that is making it hard to find what I am looking for because I have to navigate all these funny characters first.

Any suggestions or trick or maybe there is some kind of setting somewhere that I can use to manage these the way I want them to be?

    :)

  2. Add photos to people app contacts

No, it did not work. My pictures in file explorer are correctly organized in folder. But when I go into contacts using the People app, and click on add photo, the blue photos app opens, and there the pictures are organized totally wrong, it is not even correct
in date order nor folders order, and it is incomplete.

This app should be accompanied with a setting, where you can pin down how the organization should be, eg according to folder names used in file explorer.

  3. Photo Albums

    Sorry, let me make it more clear;

Currently I organize and view my photos in windows explorer folders. I have them titled for example "Aspen ski trip 2014".

How can I open the new Windows photo app and view my existing titled folders and all the photos within those folders?

The new app uses "albums" but these albums as default are organized by seemingly random dates. Dick I appreciate your help but have you even been in the Windows 10 photo app yet? How do you organize/view your photos in Windows?

  4. How can I organize my folders in Windows Explorer

Hi sjs94704. Welcome to the TenForums @sjs94704

You could right click on the folders you use the most, lets say there are five, and then hover over "Send to" and finally click on Desktop. This will create a shortcut on your desktop while leaving your data in the structure you created. When a short cut becomes obsolete or not used as often delete shortcut.

On your desktop, right click in a clear area, hover over view and remove check mark beside auto arrange. Shortcuts stay where you put them.

    One idea.

You could create a hierarchical folder structure under the folder DATA. 2 or more other folders. Labeled such as Most Used, Favorites, Brand New, etc. Then, as the subject matter changes importance to you, simply cut and paste from one folder to the other. Cut and pasting under a folder structure like that doesn't actually copy the data to another place on the drive, it re-tags it to the other folder. Real fast compared to actually moving data. You would then have a tree-like structure of your own design that would make sense to you, and therefore make it easier to find things. Flexible, too, because you could just add/remove/rename folders as you wish, and cut & paste as you wish as your needs dictate.

  6. and for my idea you can edit the title of the shortcut to something meaningful. Right click on shortcut, click properties.

Create a new Library and add the folders in the order that you prefer. They can also be rearranged by drag-n-drop in the library properties. A shortcut to the library can be pinned to Quick Access, Desktop or Start. You can also add a Library to the taskbar as a toolbar.

If you don't use Quick Access for other folders, just pin the folders to Quick Access and drag-n-drop them into the order that you want.

You can pin the folders to Start and them drag-n-drop them in the order you want under their own group heading. Or you can also create a folder on Start by dragging one icon on top of another.
