Windows 10: How can I purchase Game Pass with my Microsoft Account Balance ?

Hi,I'm attempting to sign up for Microsoft Game Pass with my Microsoft Account Balance, which is superior to the cost of the product. There is no option to use my account balance for GamePass, and when providing my payment information, Microsoft attempts to charge my debit card instead of using my account balance. It is clearly advertised on Xbox gift cards which are the source of my account balance that they can be used to purchase Game Pass, so why isn't this possible?

Thank you for your response. There are other games that allow you to purchase using the Microsoft funds that you transferred to a member of your Family.
If you don't have sufficient money in your Microsoft account to complete a transaction, you must use another form of payment registered with your Microsoft account to cover the remaining purchase amount, charge the entire purchase to the other payment
option in lieu of your account balance, or add additional value to your Microsoft account.

To ensure that the child account is allowed to purchase a content online, you have to check and change the restriction settings on the account by following the steps below:

1. Sign in to your account on the
   Microsoft Family page.
2. Find your child’s name and select More options > Spending >
   Change content restrictions.
3. Change the restrictions settings and allow the account to purchase.

If you are still unable to purchase the game, there is a possible issue with your profile or the billing information. We recommend that you contact Xbox Chat Support to securely check your account and the child account.

PC Game Pass purchased but no longer visible within Microsoft Account

I purchased a PC Game Pass and the order initially showed in my Account | Order History.

Initially I could download and run non-EA games but, nothing from EA.

In trying to rectify this, I tried a multitude of FAQ entries to try and synchronise My Microsoft Account, XBox Account, Microsoft Store Account, GAMERTAG and EA Account without any success. I inadvertently changed my GAMERTAG ID at which point I lost all visibility of the PC Game Pass purchase.

I'm now in a position where I cannot see or use the Game Pass, nor can I cancel it. I am being charged the subscription by Microsoft but cannot use their systems to cancel it, nor can I seemingly get access to their billing team to cancel the subscription either.

I just wish to cut my losses and have the subscription cancelled, can anyone help?

Why does family safety prevent my childs account from purchasing games with the balance available on their account?

Based on the description, you are having problem with making purchase of the child account using Microsoft account balance and unable to add payment instrument to the child account. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

We would like to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

1. Can you tell us what specific games you are trying to purchase? Is it an Xbox 360 backward compatible game?

2. Can you tell us exactly how much the account balance is and the price of the game?

3. What device are you trying to use to purchase the game? Have you tried different devices and still getting the same error?

4. When you add the funds to your child account, did you make it on the web or on the Xbox Family Settings app?

5. When you try to add the payment instrument to your child account, are you getting error code or error message?

The issue seems to be strange considering that there were different support who already tried to resolve the problem. If the suggested workaround provided below will not help, we will consult this to our internal support team for further assistance. For now, allow us to do the best we can.

1. Try adding funds to child account by following these methods below:

On the web:

• Sign in to the Microsoft Family Safety site with your account.
  
  Sign in to your Microsoft account
  
• Under the member whose account you want to manage, select More options > Spending.
  
• Under Microsoft account balance, select Add money.
  
• Select the desired amount of money, and then select Next.
  
• Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the transaction with a payment method you have on file or by selecting Add a way to pay.
  

On the Spending page, you can select How to add a card under Credit cards for instructions on adding a payment method to a member’s account. Note Make sure that you enable purchase notifications and approval if you decide to add a payment option directly to a member’s account.

On the Xbox Family Settings app:

• Launch the app on your mobile device.
  
• Select the member whose spending you want to manage on the home screen. Or select Settings, and then select the member’s account.
  
• Under Spending, select the Ask to buy tile.
  
• Under Microsoft account balance, select Add money.
  
• When the in-app browser loads, select the desired amount of money, and then select Next.
  
• Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the transaction with a payment method you have on file or by selecting Add a way to pay.
