Windows 10: How can I recover cut files on Windows 10? I cut some files from one folder to another, but...

I was rearranging my files on my Windows 10 computer and decided to cut some files from one folder and paste them into another. After I hit "Cut" and moved them, I couldn't find them in the destination folder. No error message popped up, but I just couldn't locate the files I cut. My system is running on Windows 10, and this happened on my local hard drive. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of: - Double-checked both the source and destination folders multiple times. - Utilized the Windows search function to look for the files, but no luck. - Took a peek in the Recycle Bin, but the

• Are you trying to cut and paste a folder from an external device?
  
• Do you have any other User accounts on the computer? Did you check the files in other User accounts if any?
  
• Was there any interruption during the cut and paste process?
  
• If the cut and paste process was interrupted, did you receive any error code or error message?
  

I suggest you to check the missing files in the Recycle Bin and try recovering the files. You can also try manually searching the files by entering the file name in the search bar.

Files gone after cut/paste then undo (control+z)

I seem to have lost my files after doing the following steps. Is there a way for me to find the files?

• I created a new folder in "Pictures" called "MomsPhone" C:\Users\willj\Pictures\MomsPhone
• I selected the picture files from the android phone's DCIM folder, right clicked and chose "Cut"
• Right clicked in the "MomsPhone" folder and chose "Paste"
• In the "Pictures" directory, pressed control+z (undo)

After the above the "MomsPhone" directory is gone, the only folder in "Pictures" that was created today is "New folder" which is empty. The files from the original device (pictures from android phone's DCIM folder) are also gone (result of the cut/paste)

Edit: I use a Windows 10 HP with a Samsung SSD

 

Cut and Paste procedure is NOT "cutting"

Hi. I am engaged in a lengthy exercise to shift a heap of files from RAR-type folders to normal folders.

I am cutting-and-pasting. However, Windows is NOT cutting, it is copying and pasting and I then have to go back to delete the file.

Why O why O why will this. !%^$% system not do as it is told. Have we slowly morphed into an Apple lookalike where nerds "know" what is best for us?

When I "cut", I want it cut!

Anyone know why this is occurring?
