Windows 10: How can I recover files from old partition?

I bought a new hard drive, replaced my old one but I didn't have my files backed up. My old Windows 10 partition wouldn't even boot up, as I kept getting the black screen with the spinning circle. A couple of years ago, I bought a device where I could easily plug in a SATA HDD into it and it connects via USB 3.0. I've got it plugged in right now, but I'm having a horrible time getting to the files, with various permission errors. I do see the folders.

How can I resolve this and get my data back?

Can not find all my old files in the documents file and no pictures. How do I recover them. when I was trying to find it I had a notice that said: "The user account already recovered. The personal file for the user account are already recovered. Please
select another user account.,? "

If it is recovered I still cannot find it. I click on Documents and three lines but no date that I need. How can I find and recover these files which are very important?

Hi, the easiest way to do this is not boot to Windows.

Try Kyhi's boot disk (DVD/USB drive) at the top of the Software and Apps section here.

This boots into a form of Windows run from RAM. That way you should be able to copy files.
