Windows 10: How can I recover my BitLocker key for windows through my associated Microsoft account...

I was trying to install Linux alongside my Windows 10 without disabling BitLocker which I didn't know about, resulting in my computer getting locked. When I attempted to recover the BitLocker key using my associated Microsoft account, it asked for security info that I'm unfamiliar with, despite having full access to that Microsoft account and to its verification phone number. So, I tried to recover the security info, but it didn't go well and now I have to wait one month to try again. I also tried the "keep my files" option during reinitialization of Windows, but nothing happened.As a mast

I know where to find the BitLocker recovery key.

The problem is: I don't know the microsoft account used to sign into the laptop.

I was hoping it was possible to recover this account with the Windows 11 Key associated with the devide.

Hello, 6 months ago I bought a laptop for my girlfriend with Windows 11.

Yesterday when she opened it, it asked for a BitLocker key (which we never manually activated). We can't find the microsoft account associated with the laptop (I'm sure we logged into a Microsoft account) but I do have the Windows 11 Key.

I wonder if it's possible for microsoft support or anything to recover the user details (e-mail maybe?) associated with the key so we can log in into microsoft and check the BitLocker key to unlock the laptop again.

 

How to find account associated with a Bitlocker Recovery Key

My daughter's very old ThinkPad died (likely a motherboard issue), and so I bought her a new one. The old PC won't start at all, so I removed the NVMe drive and popped it into an enclosure so that we could recover her files.

Unfortunately, it is asking for a Microsoft Bitlocker Recovery Key.

She has no memory of ever getting a key. She logged into her Microsoft account, and there are no devices with Bitlocker Keys associated with her account. I checked my own Microsoft account. Same thing. We guessed that it might have been associated with her old university account, so we contacted the university IT department and they said no -- that would not have ever been the case. Either way, that university account has been deleted.

I do have the Bitlocker Key ID that shows up when it asked for the Bitlocker Key. Is there any way for me to find out from Microsoft what account this Key ID is associated with?
