    How can I recover my Downloads folder if the drive won't boot?


    My old boot drive needs to be reformated because Windows isn't starting, but I want to save some files from the Downloads folder. The drive doesn't seem to be entirely corrupted because I can still access most folders from Command Prompt while using a Windows Installation Disc. One folder that isn't showing up however is the Downloads folder.How can I get to that specific folder?

    recovering data possible dead hard drive

    @SuperSoph_WD can help. Although I can suggest Recuva, or use a Live Boot CD (such as Parted Magic), which will feature a command line tool called PhotoRec. I've used both, and PhotoRec on a Live CD seems to work best and be able to recover more files than recuva, although it does not recover folder structures and some file names.

    Folder won"t go away


    I have a no longer used folder than I cannot delete. I have tried various third party apps to no avain. Any ideas how I can send this folder to "Never Never Land"
