Windows 10: How can I remove parental controls for my Microsoft account as an adult account?

I have had this account for a very long time and now that I'm an adult and am no longer in the Microsoft family safety group it has started giving me pop ups blocking sites with the parental controls stating that I need to "ask for adult permission" to access it. Not even sure where my requests would go to, as I am not in a group... this has affected my ability to pay and change my microsoft billing as well as accessing sites such as social medias and some websites can't remember which ones have specifically been flagged but recently it did this with reddit. I am 17 years old and got a new laptop for my birthday. Signed into my Microsoft account and noticed under "Family" that I am listed as a child under a person that is not my parent. How do I remove myself from their adult account so that they can't control
my restrictions and whatnot? How old does one have to be, to be considered an adult for account purposes? If it is 18, that's fine, however, I would still rather have my own parent in charge of my account, as I do not have contact with the adult listed, so
cannot request from them to remove me.

 

How to delete an adult account in the Family Settings.

To resolve your issue, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• As an adult in the family account, sign in with your Microsoft account.
• Under Your family, click
  Remove.
  
• Click the child account you want to remove, and click Remove.
• You will get an email confirmation once the child has been removed from the family.

Note: If you removed a Child account, it will be tagged as an "Orphaned account" and you will need to attach another "Parent account".
