    How can I repair a constantly crashing Windows Explorer or replace it?


    I am running a Device name LAPTOP-QJGPI54L
    Processor IntelR CoreTM i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.99 GHz
    Installed RAM 12.0 GB 11.9 GB usable
    System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

    I have Windows 10 with all the most recent updates installed except the optional ones.

    Install KB4576945 from 1 Oct 2020 caused me all kinds of problems. Since then, Windows Explorer continually crashes, so much in fact, that the laptop has been fairly useless unless I run chkdsk and SFC /scannow.

    I've tried to find solutions on the community pages as well as through Google but have yet to find anything that will consistently work.

    Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm considering buy a new non-Lenovo computer if I can't get this one to work consistently. It's extremely frustrating and there doesn't seem to be any guidance on how to repair Windows Explorer. I even tried using my original Windows 10 CD but when I run it, it wants to delete everything on the computer which is totally unhelpful.


    I'd appreciate and suggestions on how I might fix this problem

    Windows Explorer Replacement?

    are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer

    The thing is, I have a very annoying problem with the Windows Explorer: It crashes. Quite often and quite random. I have NO idea what the problem is, and I've searched the computer for viruses, trojans and everything, but there is nothing I can find.

    So, I decided to drop it and use something else. Any suggestions? It must be easy to use, of course. *Stick Out Tongue How can I repair a constantly crashing Windows Explorer or replace it? :p

    Windows Explorer Replacement?

    I don't use Internet Explorer, I meant the thing where you can look at files etc. Hotkey Windows+E. Maybe it's the wrong name in english though. *Stick Out Tongue How can I repair a constantly crashing Windows Explorer or replace it? :p
