Windows 10: How can I reset my Microsoft account password connected account while I'm still logged in?

Recently I reset my pin for security reasons to a different combination. When I tried it out by unlocking saved passwords on my Edge browser I failed too many times and got blocked out from further attempts at trying permutations of my possible passwords. To my unfortune and surprise, this includes the original system for changing my password. Fortunately I'm not logged out, but how do I reset my password? I can create another Administrator account by the name of backup using "net user administrators backup /add" and "net localgroup administrators backup /add" but I haven't tried it out yet. T

Yesterday I did exactly as recommended in the link,

• Option Three: To Reset Password of your Microsoft Account Online at Microsoft

This gave me access to the Microsoft account currently displaying on the windows 10 login screen (as tested by logging into outlook in a web browser). The problem is that it doesn't seem to be syncing to the computer in question as I have tried the newly reset password several times over the last 24 h with no luck. I am confident the computer is connected to a working internet connection.

Anything else I can try?

Thanks for the reply, but it does not help me. The website does not proceed past step 4. After entering the security code, the website does not proceed to step 5. It does not give an error message, it simply greys out the next and cancel buttons and hangs
indefinitely.

Reset your password

I'll try your "Get account help by email" suggestion and post the solution here when I've found one.
