    How can I restart Windows 11 normally?


    I had an issue with Windows Update.I ended up following a suggestion to use msconfig to restart Windows 11 in "diagnostic mode".However, when I restard, it tells me there's an issue the PIN is unavailable. The only option offered is "configure my PIN" which either does nothing or tell me a store app is needed.How can I go back to Windows 11 standard mode restart? I can't find any option? Is there a way to switch the msconfig option in command line using the safe mode prompt?

    Restart Win 10 from Alternate Shell back to Normal startup

    Hello,

    • Are you able to boot your system?
    If yes, I suggest you to try the steps below and check.

    • From Start, search for msconfig.
    • Select msconfig or System Configuration from the search results.
    • On the General tab, tap or click the Normal Startup option.
    • Click OK and restart the system and check.
    If not able to boot your system, try the below and check.

    • Restart your PC. When you get to the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key
      down while you select Power

    Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

    Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
