Windows 10: How can I retrieve overwritten/deleted files?

In trying to install a fresh version of windows 10 on my laptop. I backed up my personal files/pictures etc on a usb. I then downloaded the media creation tool on the same usb. It seems that by running the media tool , the creation of the iso file has overwritten my personal backed up files on the usb. Is there a way that these can be retrieved? Or, can I revert my laptop back as it was? I'm pretty desperate here. Please help!

Can I retrieve the file saved in these situations?

If a file is "moved" onto another drive, it's basically copied, and deleted from the first drive.

"Deleted" means that the file is not destroyed, but could be retrieved by file recovery software. That's until it is overwritten.

I don't know about other copies of the file that may be accessed without recovery.

A word of advice:

You should always have your data backed up to at least two external media destinations (external hard drive, DVDs, flash drive) in case of system file corruption and/or hard drive failure

And that includes backing up Favs and Bookmarks.
