Windows 10: How can I rollback from windows 10 to 11 without losing my data after the 10 day period?

I got windows 11 by accident and missed the 10 day period to rollback to windows 10. Windows 11 has been causing my laptop to run slower and I can't even go back to windows 10 without doing a fresh install, causing me to lose data. Is there a way I can just go back to windows 10 without losing all my files and work? My Laptop will actually be a brick if I can't find a fix.

The 10 day rollback is mostly there if you upgrade and discover that there is some compatibility problems or a driver or something else just does not work. It offers basically one step back sort of recovery. However, if say you install several major Windows 11 updates say a monthly update. Your risk of having a good rollback decreases a lot. Best best is to backup data now and clean install Windows 10. But honestly, Windows 11 in benchmarks I have seen are on par with Windows 10. Performance wise, I have yet to see any big hits from Windows 11.

 

Rolling back to Windows 10 from Windows 11 using windows.old folder

After updating my PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11, if I move the windows.old folder from C drive to some other drive, will it be possible for me to trigger a rollback after the default rollback period, i.e., 10 days, or the maximum rollback period i.e., 60 days elapses, by putting the folder back in the C drive? I want to make sure that I do not lose any apps or files during this rollback process. I would really appreciate it if you all can suggest to me the steps for the same as well, in case it is possible. Looking forward to your response.

 

Windows 11 rollback after 10 days

I've had Windows 11 installed for 11 days, just over the end of the 10 day rollback period.
The old Windows 10 files are still taking up space on the SSD C:/ drive.

How long before those files clear themselves automatically?, as disk clean up says that there are 20Gbytes (or more) of space taken up by old system files.
I don't want to do a manual clean up unless absolutely necessary.
