  1. How can I save and transfer files to my hard drive and not onedrive?

OK, I got a new computer Lenovo Legion, Windows 11 and completely forgot what I did before. So I want everything on my hard drive, not onedrive. I use onedrive for backups but not for regular use. Anyway, I followed instructions on how to unlink onedrive from my computer, but that made it so I couldn't get any of my files at all. So how can I transfer the files from my onedrive to my hard drive, then unlink the onedrive?

    :)

Recent shortcuts for apps show files on OneDrive instead of local hard drive

I was able to follow the steps and uncheck the "Use Office apps to sync" box but it didn't change Office's behavior. I opened and closed an Excel spreadsheet on my local hard drive. After that, when I right-clicked on the Excel icon pinned to the taskbar, a link to the OneDrive cloud file was in the list of recent files instead of a link to the file on my hard drive.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

  3. moving vista easy transfer files saved on external hard drive to windows 10

I used Windows Easy Transfer to move my files from my old Vista laptop to an external hard drive.

It saved all the files as a single SaveData.MIG file. Windows 10 can't open it and I can't find anything in the app store that will open it.

I want to migrate those Windows Easy Transfer files to my new Windows 10 laptop. Can I directly transfer the files and settings on my external hard drive to my new Windows 10 computer?

If so, will the settings I saved with Windows Easy Transfer migrate with the files when I move them over to Windows 10?

I know Windows Easy Transfer is not available on Windows 10, but I was hoping maybe moving the files to an external hard drive first might be a way to move all the files over to my new computer and keep the settings that were saved with Windows Easy Transfer.

If that won't work, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a Windows Easy Transfer Cable by the way. I'm not sure it's much good in this situation.

Thanks so much for your help!

Transferring files and documents to a new computer - onedrive issues

    Hi Williams,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

It seems that you have set sync settings to sync every folder and as well as external hard drive and save only on cloud. We would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to avail folders (Docs) locally.

    1. Install OneDrive and open
      File Explorer
      .
    2. Right click on OneDrive icon on the right pane.
    3. Then select Make available offline.

You may also want to refer
      OneDrive help
and go through all topics under
Popular topics and check for settings.

      Hope it helps.
