Windows 10: How can I see if my Windows product key allows for reinstalling Windows

Hello,So my PC is very old and I've recently upgraded some of the parts.I plan to reinstall windows to get everything to properly work again, but I'm afraid the product key I have was a single use one.I'm unsure if the Windows key is stored in the HDD that was in the original PC which came with Windows Vista or in the motherboard that was scrapped from a Dell XPS 8900.I have the product key copied into a doc in case that's needed to test it, but not the file locationI want to know if there's a way I can check if yes or no the key can be reused.orIf I can find the file location of the key and

Windows Product Key

A friend of mine has an all-in-one that came with Windows 8 pre-installed. He erased the original OS thinking he could install another version of Windows 8. One thing he encountered, that he didn't expect, the BIOS/UEFI has a password. So, basically he is locked out from installing another OS. His BIOS has the product key nestled inside. Is it possible to find out which version the product key belong to?

I don't think that tool asks for a key if you are running the version of Windows you are trying to download the ISO for.

 

Windows 7 not genuine problem

It seems like that's an OEM windows copy, it will do that the every time you reinstall the OS. If you have the key, next time you see the "not genuine windows copy" click it and choose to activate by phone, everything else is pretty straight forward as it explains step-by-step. If it doesn't work, then its highly likely that you got a Pirate copy.
