    How can I share the Desktop (home network)


    Like the topic says: How can I share the desktops of my Win10 computers on the network?

    My network currently has two Win10 computers and an XP computer (+plus laptops but I'll worry about them after I figure this out). I was sure I had a network when I had 2 XP computers but Win10 said there was no home group on the network so I set up a homegroup via Win10 settings on one computer and joined from the other Win10 computer.

    On either Win10 computer if I go to File Explorer>Network all computers show up. When I click the XP computer folders for Desktop and Users appear and I can open the Desktop and transfer files to.from it.

    When I do the same and click the other Win10 computer I only see the Users folder.

    I am sure this is a simple setting but I have been through the Sharing Options and Homegroup settings and can't see anything about the Desktop. I couldn't find it using the forum's search either.

    I'm not a home network with Windows 10 computers. How do I share a printer connected to my desktop with the two laptops on the network?

    home group not ready yet

    Running win 10/64 on desktop and laptop. Current with win updates on both PC's. Set up home group on both PC's during win10 install. Sharing all in desktop home group and media streaming is allowed on both PC's. No home group messages on desktop. On laptop/control
    panel/network/home group, has message "home group not ready yet. Try again later." Have tried again for several days with same result. Run troubleshooting but nothing found. Any ideas on how to fix the laptop home group so I can share with both computers?

    How can I share the Desktop (home network)

    You can open Explorer on your Win10 PCs, right-click desktop, then look for the flyout menu that says Share. It looks like this:

    That should work once you go through the details. If you don't want to do it via Homegroup, you can do it for the accounts that will be active on the other machines with whom you'd like to share the desktop.
