    How can I shut off Cortana completely


    I don't want to use Cortana nor Edge. I shut them off but they must be running because when I clean my temporary files there are plenty of temporary files being produced. What if I used Regedit and deleted every file named Edge and Cortana.

    Windows 10 is unable to complete shut down

    We suggest doing these troubleshooting steps below:

    Method 1. Hard Reset

    • Shut down your computer.
    • Remove the cable and wires connected to your computer.
    • Press the Power button for 10 seconds to completely drain your device.
    • Check if there's any changes.
    Method 2. Shutdown trick.

    • Press Windows key.
    • Press and hold Shift.
    • Click the Power icon.
    • Select and click Shutdown.

    Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

    Cortana Notebook

    In order to enable the Notebook icon in Cortana, I suggest you to check if you have enabled Cortana.

    To enable Cortana, please follow the steps below:

    • Go to Cortana.
    • Go to Settings.
    • Turn on “Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts”.
