How can I stop Microsoft Authenticator from deleting all my Iphone data if I mistype my...

Microsoft Authenticator has required my Iphone to have a 6-digit passcode and will erase my entire Iphone data if I take too many tries typing in my passcode. I want to turn off this function because it's my Iphone and I need this app for school but I need my phone more. This feels like an invasion of privacy. How can I override the Authenticator app to not mess with my Iphone settings?

    :)

Authenticator won't transfer data from old iPhone to new iPhone

I'm trying to back up the Authenticator app 2-step data from my old iphone to a new one.

On the old phone the back up address is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, while the back up on the new phone is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. But I can't get the app on the new phone to download the data from xyz back up.

So the two won't sync. So how do I get the app to sync with the old phone and import the data? Both are backed up and logged into to icloud, but the problem is I can't get the new phone to retrieve the data.

    Hope that makes sense...

  3. Removing the Authenticator App from my old iPhone.

    Hello Jorge DLG,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

What you see on the security page of your account is the actual phone number on an old iPhone, right?

Let me explain to you first that the authenticator and the phone number used for authentication are not the same thing, they are both used to verify the account login means. In other words, on an iPhone, the installed authentication app can be used for authentication, but the phone number can also be used for authentication.

Deleting the authenticator application does not affect its mobile phone number as another means of authentication.

If you currently don't plan to use the authenticator in your old phone as a means of authentication, you can simply delete your account from the authenticator, but the phone number can still be used as a means of authentication. If you plan to stop using the old iPhone altogether, you can simply delete the phone number of the old iPhone.

If your situation is not what I described above, please send the screenshot of relevant information on the account security page for confirmation. In order to protect your personal information security, please block all your private information.

    Windows Microsoft account authentication

I have a valid Microsoft account and a Windows 10 PC with Hello/PIN account login enabled. I also have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on an iPhone and configured for the Microsoft account. Additionally, I have two step authentication configured
for the Microsoft account. With all of that said, I have become very exasperated while trying to unravel the various authentication paths (and their security implications) through this multi level login security scheme. I find the associated account security
documentation to be woefully inadequate. Thus, I would like to pose the following list of questions for starters.

    1. Does Windows Hello/PIN amount to a two step verification login procedure for my Microsoft account?

    2. Does approving a Microsoft Authenticator login attempt (without two step verification explicitly set up)

amount to a two step verification login procedure for my Microsoft account?

    3. Does approving a Microsoft Authenticator login attempt (with two step verification explicitly set up)

amount to a two step verification login procedure for my Microsoft account?

    4. If answers to both 2 and 3 are yes, then what does explicit set up of two step authentication do?

    5. Does a coherent, comprehensive document explaining Microsoft account security configuration exist somewhere?

    6. If the answer to 5 is yes, wherer is it?

    Thanks in advance.
