Windows 10: How can I stop windows from resting .tiff/.tif default app to windows photo viewer ?

Hello.I have noticed that across all the computers in my organization , the default app for tif/tiff files getting reset to "windows photo Viewer" every time a user log off/on again.If I change the default app to any other app Microsoft photos , Irfan view etc. it keeps that configuration, then again getting reset back to "windows photo viewer" the next time the user login.What causes it and how can I make it stop ? my HR department works with ALOT of tiff files and many of them cant be opened in good old "windows photo viewer"Thanks Nitzan

Setting Defaults Broken: Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10

When I set Photos as the default, it takes 38 out of 54 defaults. The "Photos" app remains the default program in the Default Apps part of the settings.

When I select Windows Photo Viewer again as the default, it remains as the default app in the Default Apps window. However, Windows Photo Viewer only takes 2 out of 12 of it's defaults: *.tif and *.tiff in the "Set Default Associations" window. When I try
to click the "Set this program as default" button, it sets the default app for Photos as "WavePad Sound Editor" instead of any other photo viewing/editing app.

If I attempt to set associations by selecting all it's defaults by "Choose defaults for this program" then selecting all listed file types for Windows Photo Viewer and clicking the "Save" button, it does the same thing as if I had hit "Set this program as
default" when Windows Photo Viewer is selected. Instead of Windows Photo Viewer becoming the default for all 12 supported image types, it sets "WavePad Sound Editor" as the default app to view photos and Windows Photo Viewer is still only associating with
*.tif and *.tiff files.

 

Unable to set Windows Photo Viewer to open pictures

I would like Windows Photo Viewer, instead of the Photos app, to open pictures. However when I go to: "Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Default Programs\Set Program Associations" to change the default options to Windows Photo Viewer, I only see
under extensions:

• .tif
• .tiff

Where are the others (eg. jpg, png)???

Any help?

 

How to set Windows Photo Viewer as the default program for all photo file types?

I recently installed Win10 and now my default photo application is the Win8/10 "Photos" app and it is a horrible app. I want the old Windows Photo Viewer (WPV) application to be my default for viewing ALL images, but here's the problem - There is no way
to set WPV as the default program. Right-clicking an image then going to "open with" doesn't work and going to control panel>default programs does not work. WPV does not show up in any list using the right-click method and in controlPanel>DefaultProgram settings
WPV can only be set to the default for .tif and .tiff images. Do you have any suggestions?
