Windows 10: How can i stop windows to screw my monitor drivers? i´m very tired of this.

DTS supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 and it should work on windows 10 too just DDL require to unlock your driver .

DRDNA gave me the idea to delete the driver file stored by windows, took some finding as it was a reg file in C:\WINDOWS\inf\monitor turned out all the monitor driver is is a list of monitors & there max res at the side. Microsoft hadnt bothered finding out what the true top res for this monitor was as they had it down as 1600x1200. I just opened the driver file in notepad changed the 1600X1200 to 2048x1536 & saved it.

Sorted ! now i can select every res upto 2048x1536 without having to mess about uninstalling the monitor driver *Toast :toast:

To assist you better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

• When will the sound disable, when playing through main monitor or the extended monitor?
• Did you try enabling the sound from the sound drivers and check if it helps?
• Since from when are you facing this issue?

This issue causes because the monitor automatically takes the HDMI sound as the Default input. Disable and enable the speakers and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• Right click on the volume control and then
  Properties,
• When you connect the HDMI it becomes the default output device, even though it has no speakers.
• You need to change this back to "Speakers" and set as default.
