Windows 10: How can I stop Windows Update from updating a specific driver but keep updating the rest?

Windows update keeps updating my integrated graphics with a driver than causes issues with some games. For these games to work correctly I have to install a newer version of the software that controls the graphics amd and windows update keeps updating to the obsolete version of this software. Is there a way to stop this without having to stop all the automatic driver updates?

I have never intentionally used windows to provide my device drivers (except for older printers without Vendor drivers for clients). I only manually update from the vendor websites. Will just have to make a list of things to disable/remove if I finally decide to load it up on a machine.

yep it does. the fairly simple group policy edit lets you keep the service running but stops the forced check/download, allowing you to:
A: ignore windows update until you forcibly update
B: use the tool i linked above before doing A: to prevent certain downloads from updating drivers
C: still use device manager to windows update specific drivers, disabling the service breaks this.

technically you can't, you can only delay the installation but not stop or disable.

unless external mean or tweaking, M$ will force updates to you, which is why i stoped at 8.1 on both of my rig

i clearly see a nvidia WDDM 1.2 and 2.0 driver, so, how to be sure that it does not do the same with the official nvidia driver, and with the problems i had with all version between 347.88 and 359.00 i prefer to not have a forced update *Laugh :laugh:

yep nV driver are not better than AMD one, and the only problem i would had in 5 year of AMD driver would be the crimson bug related to the fan curve, will with nV i got a load of them in less than 4 month *Wink (cliché are hard to dispel, and i am a nV user )
