How can I stop WSL 2 from starting automatically at system startup?


As well as the fact that I don't want to have huge amounts of memory swallowed up by something that I very rarely use, I am also getting BSODs nearly every time I wake my computer from sleep or hibernate and I suspect that WSL 2 may be responsible. I want to make sure it is never running to see whether the problem goes away.


It's very inconsiderate design on Microsoft's part not to give the user a choice about whether to run WSL automatically or not.

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

WSL 2

I want to make use of WSL 2 feature with the new update of Windows version 2004 , in order to use WSL 2 i need to enable Virtualization in my pc bios settings. So when i enable virtualization my windows starts lagging and all the animations of scrolling
etc etc lags...Please suggest me something to fix that so that i could use the new virtualization feature.
