Windows 10: How can I switch my email from work/school to personal

Hello,I have been having issues with regards to the status of my email. There have been some things that I have been trying to do with this email that I am not able to because of the status of my email. For some reason it says that my account is work/school, when it is actually my personal email and it always has been. I have been trying to use it for my personal laptop and my xbox account and I cannot link either of those to this email because of the status of my email. Is there any way I can change this?Thank you for your help,Evan Norkett

Join Teams for work or school meeting with personal Microsoft account

Microsoft Teams Insider Blog: As a part of ongoing work to improve the experience when joining Teams meetings, we have just made a new update available for Teams Insiders. When using your personal Teams account to join a meeting that originated from a Work or School Teams account, you previously had to join as a guest, often causing your meeting to open in a web browser with limited functionality. Now you can join as your signed-in personal Microsoft account from within the Teams app on Windows 11, providing a better meeting experience for all parties. In the first phase of rolling out this new functionality, you will get the new experience when joining a Teams for work or school meeting from within Teams free by tapping a Teams for work or school meeting link in a chat or community within Teams free. Your signed-in personal Microsoft account will be used when you join the meeting.

If you dont have the Teams meeting in your Teams free calendar, a nice little trick is to forward the meeting invite to the email you use to sign in to Teams free. Then you will have the meeting neatly in your Teams calendar, readily available for you to join the meeting when its time. How to join Teams Insider? Its easy to join Teams Insider for earlier access to new features and improvements:

1. Go to app settings in Teams free
2. Navigate to Teams Insider program section (you can get there directly with this link)
3. Tap Join button to join Teams Insider
4. Restart the Teams app and you have the latest features and improvements

Duplicate Personal & Work/School Email Account Problem

Hi Emily- Thank you for your response.

1) I have closed/opened the personal account a couple of times as I've struggled with this issue. The most recent closure was this morning, so I'm still 30 days away from the permanent elimination of that account.

2) My company purchased 365 business products, yes. And yes, this is a custom domain email.

3) Settings/Accounts/Access work or school: Yes, my 'work or school' account IS listed here, with the option to 'disconnect' or 'manage', which opens this account page in accounts.live.com.

Under Accounts/Email & accounts:

- The old personal account is listed under "accounts used by email, calendar and contacts". If I attempt to add a new account here, and enter my email address, it sends a code to Authenticator, and then I get "Oops, something went wrong...there is a problem with your microsoft account. To fix this, sign in to account.live.com from a browser." (I suspect the error is that again, it's pushing me back into the personal account, and the account is slated for closure).

- "Accounts used by other apps" lists both the personal and work/school accounts. I removed the personal account here, but it has no effect on the big picture problem.

I should mention that I can easily tell the accounts apart because the email address name displays with a capitalized first letter in the work account and not in the personal account. But when I 'add account' with the capitalized email, it doesn't matter - the Authenticator request somehow gets directed to my personal account, which yields the error message.

A few things I would like to clarify and understand better:

1. How long ago did you close out your personal Microsoft account?

2. How did you turn it into a work/school account? Did you purchase a Microsoft 365 business products? Is this a custom domain email?

3. If you go to Settings > Accounts > Access Work or School, do you see anything listed there?

Once I gather this information, we would work toward a solution next. Thanks!
