Windows 10: How can i troubleshoot my Miracast projection? My PC doesnt detect my Laptop

Hi, I have a PC I built win10 and a laptop win11. For the purpose of using the wireless display feature I bought a USB wifi adapter Realtek RTL818188FTV Network adapter. I can succesfuly connect from laptop to PC using the wireless display app on the laptop and the Connect app on the PC. But it doesnt work the other way around, when using "Win+K" or Settings>Bluetooth & other devices, my PC it's not detecting my Laptop in any way. Other laptops win11 can connect to my laptop just fine.

Miracast troubleshooting - Laptop can project to TV, but not PC. The PC can project to laptop but not the TV. What gives?

I have spent close to 5 hours researching this and troubleshooting this issue.

I have checked the drivers, wireless settings, etc and they all appear to be up to date.

The laptop (surface pro 2) can cast to the TV

The PC (windows 10, latest updates) can cast to the laptop

However, the laptop can't detect my PC as a device to actually cast to. It can detect and add it as an audio device, or a "multimedia" device. But when I actually choose the "project" or "connect" option, it doesn't come up as an option despite the "device"
being connected. I suspect this is because my laptop can't tell that it's a valid miracast device or if my PC can't tell my laptop it's a miracast device.

Additionally, and most frustratingly, my PC can't connect/project to my TV. It's the same as above, I can add the LG TV as a multimedia device and an audio device, but when I actually choose the connect/project option, it doesn't come up as a valid display
option.

For both of these failures, I am unable to add the other device as a "wireless display" but I am otherwise able to detect it.

Why can my laptop detect, connect and project to the TV as a wireless device but the PC can't?

Why can my PC detect, connect and project to the laptop as a wireless device but the laptop can't connect to the PC in the same way?

Does Miracast support 4K?

We suggest that you check with the manufacturer of the 4k display device that you are using if it is certified to work with Miracast. If your display device is certified to work with Miracast, then check if your PC device supports Miracast. You may do so
by following the steps below:

• Click Start, then go to Settings >
  Projecting to this PC.
• Check if your device supports Miracast.

Miracast and screen projection

Hi,

i recently learned about the win10 miracast projection feature.

Somehow it does not work for me, although DxDiag says: Miracast: Available, with HDCP

As far as i found out, Miracast requires a wifi connection.

Here is my setup:

• Laptop with latest Win10 connected to WPA2 secured Wifi Network

Seems to be ready for screen mirroring.

• Desktop PC with latest Win10 connected via LAN to a Wifi Router and has no wireless connection other than Bluetooth.

System settings say: does not support Miracast.

Is there any possibility to make it work over LAN and the Wifi Router? Any options I could look for in the Router settings, or Windows network setting? Would a Wifi Card or Dongle plugged into my PC would do the trick?
