Windows 10: How can I turn off the keyboard in my laptop to used external keyboard?

I have tried many methods out there but it doesn't work.
If I unistall then it re-installs.
If I update to a certain driver incorrectly, it will update itself

I know it depends on the make of the laptop but I would like to know if it is possible to turn on a laptop with an external keyboard.
