How Can I type German Umlautä, ö, ü, etc. without using ALT Code like Microsoft Touch Keyboard

In Microsoft TouchKeyboard you can simply hold down the 'u' then get more options for more available varieties of the 'u' alphabetsIs there anyway to make this feature available on my normal keyboard input? I am not looking to switching to German keyboard input all the time or using ALT code because my keyboard doesn't have keypad.

    :)

  2. How to get ä, ö, ü and ß when typing

    Hi,

I am Ganesh Gandhi, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

There are no Keyboard shortcut for getting umlauts (ä, ö, ü) or an Eszett/beta (ß) when writing on Windows 10.

Windows does not have option like mac.

You have to use ASCII characters combinations

    Kindly follow these steps:

    1. EnableNumber Lock

    2. Press hold ALT key and type a number on the number pad (ALT + 0228 = ä)

    ALT 0223 = ß

    ALT 0228 = ä

    ALT 0246 = ö

    ALT 0252 = ü

    ALT 0196 = Ä

    ALT 0214 = Ö

    ALT 0220 = Ü

Do let me know if you require any further help on this. Will be glad to help you.

How to get ä, ö, ü and ß when typing

Is there a keyboard shortcut for getting umlauts (ä, ö, ü) or an Eszett/beta (ß) when writing on Windows 10? I know you can insert a special character manually, but is there any shortcut available so you can just use your keyboard? On my laptop my default
language is English, but I have German as a language. My laptop was purchased in an English speaking country so the physical keyboard on my laptop is in English, so there's no buttons for umlauts etc.

(On an Apple laptop you press "option" then click "u" and it will give you an umlaut- so I'm looking for a similar option to this)

Thanks How Can I type German Umlautä, ö, ü, etc. without using ALT Code like Microsoft Touch Keyboard :)

    Typing umlauts in German on Windows 10 (ä, ö, ü + ß)

Is there are a way to type stated above letters for German without typing alt + {four numbers that no one will remember}? Really annoying because I am using an 85% keyboard, and the alt + {four numbers} thing only works with a numpad, plus I'd rather use
for instance alt + a to type ä instead of alt + 0228 and maybe alt + shift + a to type Ä instead of alt + 0196.
