Windows 10: How can I unsync OneDrive from My Documents on my laptop?

I've looked at various solutions and none of them work for me.OneDrive is already synced and there is no app where I can click on "settings" as I've seen on some solutions. I've tried installing the app but it just sits there loading.I've also tried clicking on 'Properties' for the Documents folder on my laptop and selecting 'Restore default' under location. However, when I try to apply the change, I get a pop-up box asking if I want to move files to the new location and another message appears telling me "there is a folder in the same location with the same name that can't be redirected". UNsync OneDrive

I just got a Windows 10 Pro Dell XPS. In Windows Explorer, when contents of This PC are displayed, what are the 'pushpins' next to Desktop, Downloads, Documents, etc (in the left pane)?


When I transferred all my files to the Documents folder, OneDrive started to upload them. I do NOT want them all uploaded to OneDrive. I closed OneDrive, ended up in Settings somewhere and unsynced it. It continues to upload all my files when I turn the pc on again. This is a major problem here

Unfortunately there's no way to select folders within Documents folder to sync or unsync.

Are you actually in OneDrive Settings > Accounts tab > Choose folders? The list of folders you see here is not for choose what to sync FROM your computer to the cloud. Rather, it is the opposition. It is to choose what's already in the cloud to sync TO your local computer. Since this documents > sub folder is already on your computer, you cannot uncheck in this settings.

Your alternative is to unsync the entire Documents folder. Which can be done via Settings > Sync & Backup tab > Manage Backup. Turn off the Documents folder. However, future files you save to Documents folder won't save to OneDrive. You have to manually save those files to the OneDrive folder instead of Documents folder.

 

How to unsync my OneDrive if the initial set up was not fully complete on a new laptop?

I purchased a new laptop and started the initial set up, the last step was syncing my OneDrive. I decided to return the laptop and need to unsync my OneDrive. How can I do this if the initial set up was not fully completed?
