How can I update my BIOS?

That is correct....all most all BIOS are updated from with in the BIOS area. There are a few manufacturers that will allow updating the BIOS from within a windows environment. I'm not sure if Acer allows updating the BIOS from within windows.

According to American Megatrends, it means it is having a problem called DRAM Refresh failure. How would I go about fixing that?

    1) Please log on to the computer with the user that is the default administrator.
    2) Open administrative command prompt and type or or copy and paste these commands:
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) chkdsk /scan
    6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

The four pin cable that comes from the Power Supply, would be for a Motherboard connection for extra voltage. The DRAM refresh could be bad RAM or something else. You might want to find a mom & pop shop to look at the machine, since you are starting to get into problem areas that are harder to diagnose online, especially if the system is not booting, which can be due to a malfunctioning Motherboard or Power Supply.

    Going by Crucial, this is the type of RAM that it uses: DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V •

This is the motherboard that machine uses. You will notice that it does not have a space for the 4 pin connector. Original New For Acer Aspire XC-100 Integrated AMD E2-1800 1.7G CPU Desktop Motherboard D1F-AD : laptop ac adapters laptop LCD cable laptop Motherboards laptop parts
