How can I update windows in a full Hard Drive after inserting a new hard drive?

I have an ASUS L402S model laptop. It has a Hard Drive storage of 28.s gb. I have a 11 gb update but I have only 1 gb as free space. I inserted a TOSHIBA MQ04ABF100 model hard drive, which has 931 gb space or in a way 1 tb. My question is can I combine 2 drives and make extra storage or can I update my windows to the new drive? and if I can how?

    :)

    Windowed Hard Drives

On the contrary, showing off "slow tech" by adding a window to a hard drive is a "dumb" idea. Do you really want to be showing off a whole "7200-10000 RPM of power" or would you rather show off a plain SSD drive? (If you really desire to "show off")

Adding any window to any drive is just stupid. I just suggested an easier option for you since manufactures don't put windows on the latest hard drives.

  3. Overclock your hard drive!!!

Heres a much easier hack that I realized quite a few years ago that really does work!

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Hard drive with molex power connection.
    • PSU with more than 1 strand that has molex plugs on it.
    • Wire strippers, soldering iron if you're fancy, electrical tape if you're not.
    STEPS:
    • Take the strand of connectors from your PSU, and decide which one will be the donator for this overclocking adventure.
    • Cut the yellow and orange cables, then twist them together.
    • Find the power connector you've chosen as the overclocking connector, and release the orange cable from the connector. Now use your preferred method to bind them together, then place it back together.
    • Plug in a drive and feel the speed!
Congratulations! You've just overclocked your hard drive!

    Problem?...with new hard drive

So I when I bought my Sony Vaio laptop it came with a 5400 rpm hard drive. I figured this would be alright but I shortly after decided to buy a 7200 rpm hard drive. I ended up going with the Western Digital Scorpio Black 500gb hard drive. So I took out the old hard drive and threw the new one in and well...I get nothing. By this I mean that when I attempt to restore (I performed a backup with Acronis) it shows no drive on the list to restore to. Nothing. If I go to the backup setting just for fun it still shows nothing. So I don't believe that the computer is even recognizing the drive. Any ideas why or how to fix it?... THANKS!

EDIT: Checked the BIOS after putting it in and it shows it in there. So for whatever reason it isn't showing up in the Acronis boot utility?...

    Laptop model: Sony vaio SVF152190X

UPDATE: SUCCESS! Decided to install windows 8 on the new drive and then copy over just the C drive from the old drive. Worked great and now all is good, finally! *Big Grin How can I update windows in a full Hard Drive after inserting a new hard drive? :D
