  1. How can you change icons for a specific file type?

    Hi there!

    I used many different file types each day, specially those related to image editors. I have many .psd and .ai files (documents for Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator). However, since I use other programs (GIMP and Inkscape), these files look pretty ugly. They are a white sheet of paper with low resolution GIMP/Inkscape logo. And that is awful *Sad

    I think I did something with W7 like messing up with regedit in order to change that. I just want W10 to show those files with a proper icon file (.ico) I have in my computer.

    Thank you very much!

    :)

    Changing default drive icon in autorun.inf?

    Good day,

    I've read on numerous sites that in order to change the default icon for a specific drive, all you need to do is create or modify the autorun.inf
    file located on the drive's root directory so that it contains the following:

    [autorun]

    icon=name_of_file.ico

    or

    [autorun]

    icon=subdirectory\name_of_file.ico

    The "name_of_icon.ico" file is whatever filename contains the icon that is to replace the default drive icon. After this is done, the properties of these two files would be modified to "read only" and "hidden."

    Although this method works great for icon files (.ico) that contain
    one icon, I have a question regarding icon files (.ico, .dll, etc) that contain
    multiple icons: How can
    one specific icon be selected
    from an icon file that contains many icons? Can it be done using the
    autorun.inf file? If so, then would you please let me know how to do it?

    Thank you!

    How can I change the language of a specific app from Windows Store?

    Thanks. As requested,
    here is the link to my post made via the Feedback Hub
    .

    And thanks for letting me know that the Hub even exists, I didn't know about that feature before. If I'm able to get results as promptly as I get responses on this forum, it'll be a great resource for me.

    How can you change icons for a specific file type?

    Try e.g. Filetypesman (freeware) or Gunners File Type Editor (freeware).
    These allow you to browse to and select an icon for each file type.. look for the rt click options.
