Windows 10: How can you fix a left mouse button not working?

I've done every fix I could find, changed batteries, switched ports, etc., and it still doesn't work. I've checked the manufacturers website to find a new driver update, but its all on chinese. I'm having a really hard time here, since I use my pc a lot for school related things and such. I'll go ahead and provide more info if someone responds.But I did do the sfc scan thing and it told me it found the corrupted file and is fixing it. I don't know what to do next though. I tried to paste my screenshot but it said it could not be found.

Mouse left button stops working intermittently

I have seen several posts with similar problems, but none of them provide any useful answers. Basically, my left mouse button stops working intermittently. I can "fix" it by double clicking the scroll button, but it soon returns. This is the third mouse
I tried so please do not suggest trying a different mouse or driver. I am using Windows 10.

 

Disfunctional Mouse

My wired mouse is a Genius M/N: DX-110 model. It's been working perfectly until yesterday. Today I wiped clean the keyboard while the machine was on, by pressing many keys at random. Then the mouse stopped working! I have restarted the computer, but to no avail.
The left button does not function at all. The right button works somewhat like the left button used to be, but it first displays a menu including "open link in new tab/window", etc. So it takes two steps to get to the destination, but then the link does not open by either left or right button and thus I have to use the touch pad key to open it, making three steps procedure in the end.
Both the pointer and the central scroll wheel work normally.
What has gone wrong? How can I fix it? All suggestions are heartily welcome.

Thanks for all these helpful information, Glen. First step that we can try is to isolate if this is a hardware or software issue.

If your keyboard is connected via USB, have you tried plugging it to a different USB port and still get the same results? If you have other working mouse, try it onto your PC and see if the issue will persist and let us know.

As for the software side, check if your drivers are updated to the latest version, particularly with the
mouse driver. If that didn't fix the issue, follow the steps listed below to perform Windows 10 Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:

• Ttype Troubleshooting on the Cortana search box and hit the Enter key.
• Click View All located on the top left corner of the control Panel window.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Run the troubleshooter.
