Windows 10: How can you get Windows 10 to recognize the scanner part of a multi function printer MFP?

I have a Canon PIXMA MX892 all-in-one device. The device is connected via wifi. I have the latest driver installed and can print fine. However, windows does not recognize the fact that I have a scanner connected. The help pages for these settings in Windows are garbage - they tell you that if you have an MFD to take some steps that are imaginary and unavailable to me in Windows.

Recognizing scanner

Multi function printer scanner (Brother MFC-L2740DW) will print but does not recognize scanner. Worked fine until the last Microsoft update. Using Windows 10. What do I do?

 

Windows 10 - Dell 1355cnw multi-function printer - able to print using WI-FI network, but Fax & Scan is not recognizing it as a Scanner

I have Dell 1355cnw multi-function (Print, fax, Scan and Copy) printer and able to print fine with it using home WI-FI network, but Windows 10 Microsoft Fax & Scan is not recognizing as a Scanner "says no scanner attached to the computer". Pl. help.
