Windows 10: How come my storage HDD sleeps a lot tighter lately?

Hi everyone. For many years i was annoyed by how frequent W10 wakes up my storage drive for no apparent reason. But lately..., is it just me or has it stopped? Is it fixed with an update? Like to know before i buy new storage.
