  1. How Disable Built-in Raid hardware in Precison 3650

My church purchased a Precision 3620 with the builtin RAID 0/1 chipset, I need to disable the RAID function and use both drives as independent devices, I removed the cable to one of the drives from the RAID sosket and used the last available normal SATA socket for it. All seemed to be fine until the RAID-connected drive got some type of non-repairable problem. I then cloned the bad drive to the now non-RAID drive and everything seemed good until I replaced the bad drive with one I just received form Dell. It was assigned drive letter G and was formatted & named. Now the machine is not happy that I am not booting from drive 0,

What do I need to do? Please do not refer to cable colors. This machine now renamed Lucifer due to its bad behavior has had everything on it replaced one item at a time except for the case & the power supply. During the process of troubleshooting with Dell, the two cables blue & black to the RAID controller have been swapped numerous times. I now have no idea which cable was on the left RAID socket & which was on the right socket,.

BTW, the PC was powered from a UPS that seems to be fine.

How do I make the disk that was originally Disk 1 and is no longer on the RAID array into Disk 0 and the new one replaced today into disk 1 or maybe even batter, an unnumbered disk.

And, after I renamed the replaced drive as Drive X still attached to the RAID controller, it is still disk 0..

BTW, there is an external USB drive that is used for backups listed as Disk 2 same as it always has been

Is there a way to totally neuter the RAID controller and then use the two ports or even one of them as a standard SATA port?

    Thanks,

    :)

  3. Fresh Win 10 Pro install and RAID 1

Thanks guys. I set up RAID in the BIOS following MSI settings in their manual. Then I loaded windows following the prompts. But I must have missed a step. And hence my questions after my install. So, I did as you suggested Samuria, and set it up in Windows. I would have preferred a MoBo hardware setup. But as long as I have RAID 1 I will be happy. Thanks, B.
