Windows 10: How do get my ethernet adapter to properly work after update changed something

A Windows update yesterday affected my ethernet adapter. I've run basic diagnostics, and it is working but I'm not able to connect my CAT line. I've checked my router, Internet connection using WiFi in the meantime, uninstalled the update, installed and reinstalled drivers, checked drivers. Help!

IP configuration not valid - interference from ethernet adapter?

Solution 1: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1or Windows 10

Step 1:

Go to Device Manager → Network adapters.
Step 2:

Expand it (Network adapters).


Step 3:

Select your network adapter


Step 4:

Right click on your wireless network adapter or Ethernet adapter and then tap “Update Driver Software”.
(in this case your network adopter is Ethernet adopter so tap your Ethernet adapter)
Step 5:

Now on a new window you will need to click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.




Step 6:

Then select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.



Step 7:

Now choose the “Manufacturer’s drivers” from the list of two and then click next.



Step 8:

After the completion of the process just restart your PC and check if the problem is solved or not. If not, goto solution 2.



Solution 2: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1,windows10

Step 1:

Open command prompt.
Step 2:

Just go on hitting the enter after typing the each command.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
Step 3:

Now to check if the settings are disabled type:
netsh int tcp show global
then hit enter.
Step 4:

Now the thing left is just rebooting your system and just check if the problem is solved or not and just give feedback.*chuckle*Thumbs

Try the following steps and check if it helps:

Method 1: Try the following steps:

  Click "Search" and type "Command Prompt" without quotes.
  
• 
  Right-click the "Command Prompt" item and click "Run as administrator."
  
• 
  Type "ipconfig /release"
  to release your IP address. Do not type the quotes. Press "Enter."
  
• 
  Type "ipconfig /renew" to renew your IP address. Again, do not use the quotes. Press "Enter."
  

Method 2: Run Network adaptor trouble shooter

You may try Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Services as a first step to diagnose and repair common Network issues.

To run the trouble shooter follow the steps given below

a. Type troubleshooting in the search box on taskbar.

b. Click troubleshooting in the search results.

c. Click "View all" and then click "Network Adapter".

d. Click "Next" and follow on-screen instructions.

If issue still persists try method 2.

Method 3:If the issue persists, I suggest you to install the latest drivers from manufacturer website and check.

GRAH! Ethernet adapter NOT working!

thanks for the replies guys.

i tried most of whats been suggested already. restarted router, installed the latest drivers from nvidia for the nforce chipset + ethernet, and the adapter isn't disabled (its getting a wacked out ip address compared to the rest of the systems on the network, and occasionally, i can ping.)
