  1. How do I actually "apply this template to all subfolders"?

Yes, I know, right click on a folder, select "Properties" then the "Customize" tab, then click "Always apply..." However, it never works. For example, I'll try to organize my music files so each folder lists the details I want displayed then choose the "View" option I want sometimes Extra large icons, sometimes Details, but it never applies to all the subfolders. When dealing with hundreds of folders, it's a real pain to constantly readjust the folder details.Windows 10 Pro, all updatesThanks.

    :)

  2. File Explorer bug with "Also apply this template to all subfolders"

Thank you for your answer, Dave!. Yes, indeed, changing the settings for all folder types helps, but it affects all folders. I need a certain view to be set for a specific folder and all subfolders. The way it was in Windows 10. The problem is that the function "Also apply this template to all subfolders" does not work in Windows 11. It would be nice for the developers to fix this.

  3. File Explorer bug with "Also apply this template to all subfolders"

Hi, in Windows 11 (22H2, build 22621.1992) then I set "Also apply this template to all subfolders" in folder properties, it don't work.

In my working folder, there are many more folders (there are thousands of them), each of which contains images, documents, and even video with audio files (these are photographs and furniture drawings with assemblers' comments). In Windows 10, I just checked the "Also apply this template to all subfolders" checkbox and all folders began to appear as folders with documents (I configured the view of the parent folder this way). Now it doesn't work and it's very annoying. I can't customize the appearance of each subfolder manually because there are so many and this will create a desktop.ini file in each of them.

I've searched the web and Microsoft seems to be aware of this issue. But I didn't find a solution. Can anyone help me with this?

How do I actually "apply this template to all subfolders"?

Folder property's doesn't apply to other folders within when checkbox 'Also apply this template to all subfolders' is checked.

Folder property's doesn't apply to other folders within when checkbox 'Also apply this template to all subfolders' is checked.

    How to reproduce:

On my c:\ I have a folder with other folders with pictures. when browsing to a folder, the default view is pictures so it shows me the pictures in thumbnail. I don't want that so I change the main folder property to 'Documents' and fill the checkbox 'Also apply this template to all subfolders'.

What I expect: (Works in Windows 10.)

All folders within that folder will show me a listed view.

    What I get:

It only applies to the folder you changed the property to 'Documents', all folders deeper in the tree are still in picture mode.

    Conclusion:

This clearly is one of the many small bugs in Windows 11 How do I actually "apply this template to all subfolders"? :) I manually changed every folder property to 'Documents' in the meantime.

    OS build: 22000.795
