    How do I add a new folder at the top level, NOT a normal folder..


    I want to insert a new folder as a top-level folder like My Picture, My documents, Etc. I want My own My *** Folder the same as the My Pictures folder is implemented. NOT a normal folder.. Never answered MS Question, thread is locked?.     Custom Folder view for new folders registery hack ?

    Te new folder has default view of LIST

    I want DETAILS

    When making new system ... it's a pain in ass changing always.

    Thank you for your reply.

    To clarify: if I right click on 'Documents' (or any of the other folders below 'This PC') then 'New' is amongst the options that appears in the box of options. That creates a new folder within the Documents
    folder. But if I right click on 'This PC', then 'New' is not amongst the list of options within the menu box. (The options are Collapse, Open in new window, Pin to Quick access, Manage, Scan,Shred, Pin to Start, Map network drive, Disconnect network drive,
    Add a network location, Delete, Rebame, Properties).

    There is no error message, just the lack of an option to create a new folder at the top level. Which I would like to do in order to store and identify files which are not documents, download, music, pictures or videos. Obviously I could create a folder for
    (for example) GIS shapefiles within 'Documents', but it seems counter-intuitive - I'd prefer to do it at the higher level in the folder hierarchy.

    Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.
