    How do I add Eject in Context Menu for External Hard Drives?


    As far as I've understood, the Eject option in the Context Menu appears only for small USB Key "Flash Drives". That option does not appear for big Mass Storage Devices. I have a 2TB and a 4TB External Hard Drives I would like to Eject by Right Clicking on the Drive Icon in Windows File Explorer.How would I go about adding "Eject" to the Context Menu for these External Hard Drives? Is there a small Program perhaps, that can add this option to the Context Menu?Thanks

    Eject button is greyed out for external hard drive

    Assuming this is an External USB HDD then normally there is no Eject option because it's not classed as 'Removable', only USB Flash Drives have the context menu option according to my own experience as well as this well respected source.

    There's the Task Tray 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media' option to eject.

    Or Settings > Devices > Other Devices

    No Eject context option on external HDD

    Hi,

    I have a WD My passport External harddive (FHow do I add Eject in Context Menu for External Hard Drives? :) connected to windows server 2008 r2 standard. For some reason, it is displayed as harddisk drive instead of removable storage.

    When i right click drive F, the context menu doesn't display the Eject option like DVD Drive E:

    May i know how to get the eject option back?

    How do I add Eject in Context Menu for External Hard Drives?

    External hard drives and Windows 10

    I have 2 hard drives. When I connect them to Windows 7, there are no issues ejecting them. They always eject seamlessly.

    In Windows 10, however, what happens are:

    1. I often have to resort to going to Control Panel, Device Manager to uninstall an external hard drive as the eject utility says they are being used. But they are not being used and no processes show up as active in Task Manager.

    It is sporadic. Sometimes the eject works, sometimes it does not.

    Whereas the eject always seamlessly works with a flash drive.

    2. Also, under Computer Management, when I do a right click on the external hard drive, the Offline context menu option does not show up

    Is there a way to correct this?
