Windows 10: how do i add icon/apps back to my desktop again?

I sometimes let my brother play games on my laptop, but while he was playing today, my laptop died and I tried to start recharging it as soon as I could. But when I started my laptop again, my desktop was wiped clean, no recycle bin, no nothing. all of the apps are still there when I click on the start button, but I cannot put them back on my desktop, nothing works. Can anyone help me out ?

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

As per the issue description I understand that you are facing issues with desktop icons.

I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

• Right click on the desktop.
• Click on view
• Check the option auto arrange icons.

This issue could be caused if the Desktop Icons are hidden.

1. May I know, if you are aware of any recent changes made to the system after which you are facing this issue?
2. Which version and edition of Windows is installed on the computer?

I suggest you go through this articleShow, hide, or
resize desktop icons follow the steps, if the icons are hidden, you should get it back.



If you want to pin any icon to desktop you can check

Pin apps and folders to the desktop or taskbar and you can easily access them from the desktop screen.
