  1. How do I block a user account from installing literally anything?

I have been at this for 2 hours and I still can't figure out why the hell this isn't working. I've gone through guest accounts, UAC, and the group policy editor, and yet the guess account can still install and run .exe files like Firefox and Discord

I want the guest account to have zero chance of ever installing anything unless they enter the admin password EVERY TIME

My god I am so frustrated right now. I am trying to "old people" proof this computer, and stop my parent's from installing literally everything they click yes on, but Windows 10 makes it so stupidly complicated.

How do I set up a user account that cannot open .exe files without a password, and cannot install or make changes to any settings without a password, and someone please explain why the hell this is so complicated.

    Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:
      Code:
      net user test /del

  3. Installing Applications to Select User Accounts

    Hi Lucas,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are trying to avoid the access of all the application in all users. We will help you try resolving this issue.

I suggest you to check while installing any software it gives an option to install on all users or any particular user only.

However this would be application specific to manufacturer.

You can try following the below steps also and check if it helps.

    • When you install the software or an application, it makes a shortcut or copy to the public folder where all the users can access the application.
    • Open C:\ Drive and select Users.
    • Select Public, select the files which you don't want to be used by other users and delete the files or Cut and paste in Admin account folder.
Note: To perform this steps be logged into Admin user.

Keep us posted to help you better.
